Makes 4 waffles
Ingredients
- 1 cup soaked and coarsely crushed falafel (chick peas)
- ½ cup semolina (rava)
- 5 tbsp urad dal (split black lentil) flour
- 2 tbsp low fat curd
- 1 tbsp finely chopped green chillies
- 1 tsp roasted and crushed cumin seeds (jeera)
- Salt to tatse
- 1 tsp oil
- 1 tsp fruit salt
- 1 ½ tsp oil for greasing and cooking.
- For serving: Green chutney
Method:
- Combine falafal, semolina, urad dal, curd, green chillies, cumin seed, salt and 1 cup of water together in a bowl. Mix well to form a thick batter. Keep it aside to rest for 15 minutes.
- Add ½ cup of water to prepared batter.
- Preheat the waffle iron till red hot (you can use Grill pan as alternate to waffle iron)
- Add the fruit salt to batter and sprinkle 2 tsp of water over it. When bubbles form, mix gently.
- Divide the batter into 5 equal portions.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with ¼ tsp of oil and pour one portion of the batter into each of the 2 moulds and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or till the waffles is crisp and golden brown from both the sides.
- Repeat with the remaining batter to make 2 more waffles.
- Serve hot with green chutney.
