When asked by the team of Momschi to become a guest writer I was delighted to share some of my knowledge with so many mothers out there. Being a Health Coach, I’m passionate about making others aware of health and wellness. Through a series of articles in the coming weeks I hope that I can convey this passion to you.
On that note I would like to base my first piece of writing on the importance of health and wellness from a mothers perspective as well as that of the child. In general terms a mother will obviously want the best for her child, sometimes this can turn into a form of overbearing love. The trick here is to strike the right balance between feeding a child through love and feeding through a practical approach.
A child as he or she develops knowingly or unknowingly tends to pick up eating habits from those around him/her (mainly parents etc). The child is also learning to make his or her own decisions when it comes to food choices. Therefore giving children the confidence to do so has to be dealt with wisely.
I recently passed on similar advice to a client. She was a wonderfully talented mother of three. She listened to what I had to say patiently and then responded with one question, “How do I do it?”. I told her that all you have to do is make educated decisions by educating yourself as well as your children. Its that simple.
So the next time your child asks for that second serving of pasta or becomes addicted to that after school treat of ice-cream become aware getting the balance right between yes and no.
How about taking this a step forward by implementing it this Diwali ?
