Wood Apple Squash

Beat the heat with this perfect summer cooler!

Wood apple is a super fruit, it contains many medicinally values. Some of its benefits are: i) Prevents scurvy; ii) Aids digestion; iii) Purifies blood and remove toxins; iv) Improves kidney health; v) Cures respiratory problems and the list goes on.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 5-6

Ingredients:

  • 1 Wood Apple Fruit
  • 500 g Sugar/ Jaggery powder
  • 4 Lemons
  • 1 tbsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tsp black salt

Method:

  • In a microwave safe bowl, take out the pulp of wood apple fruit.
  • Add 2 cups of water to bowl and microwave for 4 minutes.
  • With the help of a masher or ladle mash the entire mix until it appears homogenous.
  • Strain the entire mix.
  • Add cardamom powder, sugar/jaggery powder and microwave for 2 minutes or until the sugar/jiggery powder gets melt.
  • Rest the mixture for 10 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice and stir it well. Wood Apple Squash is ready.

(Note: You can store this squash for a week in refrigerator)

To Serve:

  • Take 2 tsp of squash in a glass, 3-4 ice cubes and water as required. Your wood apple cooler is ready to serve.
