Diwali is known as the festival of lights but it is easy to get carried away and go on a shopping spree (any excuse right?) buying presents for family, friends, family friends the list goes on. One thing is for sure GST and demonisation and the push towards a cracker-free has will make this festive season different from what we are used to. Here are 3 tips to keep in mind this festive season be it Diwali, Christmas or the wedding season.

1. Plan your budget: Write a list of whom you need to buy presents for and your budget yourself accordingly. Do not get carried away by bundle-offers such as buy 3 get 1 free. Instead ask your self: Do I really need the extra items? Keep in mind, when planning your budget do not be to tight be realistic and remember to include the little things (they all add up!).
2. Compare prices: Look at prices online (make sure from reputable website and do not make an online payment unless you trust the website) then compare prices online and offline (markets or shops)
3. Embrace Potluck: Are you hosting or going to a party this season? Chances are yes how about suggesting potluck. This way everyone is assigned item to bring along. At this time of giving a little charity goes along way so give what you can to make a huge difference to those less fortunate.
